SOUTHGATE MEDIA GROUP IS HOLDING THEFIRST ANNUAL WOMEN IN PODCASTING FESTIVAL, TO BE HELD OCTOBER 6, 2018
(Chicago) Southgate Media Groupis hosting the first annual Women in Podcasting Festival(WiP) to celebrating the unique voices, perspectives, and creativity of women who podcast. The festival will be at Otherworld Theatre, 3914 N Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60613 October 6, 2018.
The Women in Podcasting Festivalwill include a keynote, and will be hosted by, Martha W Southgate, Co-Founder of WiP and Southgate Media Group. The festival line-up includes the podcasts Some Would Say, Queen Quaymo, The Icky Lousy Junky Life Showdown, Thank Me Later, The Uh-Oh Feeling, Read Between the Lines, Popcorn Psychology, The Five(ish) Fangirls, Podcast Envy, The Sonshine State, andImpress Me with Music.
The opportunity to podcast is blind to gender, race, religion, status, or any of the many dividers separating our society. Podcasting gives voice to all. Podcasting can be a tool of empowerment for those who have felt silenced. The Women in Podcasting Festival is not about women’s issues or feminism, it is about celebrating the unique voices, perspectives, and creativity of women who podcast. The shows featured will have various genders performing at the festival, yet the primary host of each show must identify as female. “The Women in Podcasting Festival is about empowering women to use their voices to change the world. Every time we share our stories, our opinions, and our thoughts, we are helping to change the narrative that so often tells us to stay quiet,” said keynote and WiP Co-founder Martha W Southgate.
“One of the tenants of our network is to have 50% women hosts on our podcasts. We want our shows to reflect society, not simply be a bunch of guys with mics. We’ve wanted to hold this festival since we started in 2014 and we finally feel that we’re ready to do it right. This festival is a celebration of women creating awesome content and the diversity of topics that they cover so well,” said WiP co-founder Robert Southgate.
The festival will run October 6, 2018 Saturday starting at 10am and will end at 4pm at Otherworld Theatre, 3914 N Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60613.All tickets are $25.
